SPECIAL REMINDER:  Our Friday night service on September 10, as Rosh Hashanah concludes, will begin at 7:00 PM.

WE HOLD A FAMILY SHABBAT SERVICE ONE FRIDAY EVENING OF EVERY MONTH BEGINNING AT 7:00 PM.  THAT WILL BE THE ONLY FRIDAY EVENING SERVICE FOR THAT DATE.  UPCOMING FAMILY SHABBAT SERVICE DATES WILL BE:

   SEPTEMBER 24 - 7:00 PM (Birthdays and wedding anniversaries celebrated)

   OCTOBER 15 - 7:00 pm (Birthdays and wedding anniversaries celebrated)

   NOVEMBER 19 - 7:00 PM (Birthdays and wedding anniversaries celebrated)

The deadline to register for the WLCJ Seaboard Region's day trip to the Jewish Theological Seminary has been extended to Friday, September 3.  Please contact Ziza Pallia for more information.

Our annual Selihot service will take place on Saturday evening, September 4.  We will gather for refreshments beginning at 9:00 PM.  There will be a special video presentation on the topic of “What Shall We Pray For In The New Year?”  The service will begin at approximately 10:00 PM.

Our weekly Torah Study and Discussion will take NOT place on Thursday, September 9.

Our next session is sheduled for Thursday, September 16, at 9:30 AM.  We will review Parshiot Ha-azinu, V'zot Habracha and B'reshit with special emphasis on Genesis 1:1 - 2:3.  This is an open-ended discussion with contributions from all participants.  All individuals, regardless of background, are welcome to participate.  Please feel free to attend without advance RSVP.

Our Tashlich service is scheduled for Wednesday, September 15.  Please gather at the synagogue at 4:45 PM and join the DRRS students as we walk across the street for this beautiful service by the water.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, Sept. 26, 5:00 – 8:00 PM, for a GOLD RUSH & KUGEL COOK-OFF - A FUNDRAISER FOR KOL SHALOM WHERE YOU GO HOME WITH A CHECK!!!  Flyers are available in the lobby  for more information!  KUGEL COOKS NEEDED:  Will you bake your favorite kugel for the Gold Rush and Kugel Cook-off party/fund-raiser to be held on Sept. 26? ALSO NEEDED:  accompanist (piano, guitar, accordion?) for an old-favorites sing-a-long, Sunday, 9/26, 6:30– 7:30.  Please contact Peggy Sange if you can help out.

Our next Talmud Study will take place on Monday, October 11.

Beginning on Thursday evening, October 14, Rabbi Pohl will begin a course for adults reviewing the rituals of the Shabbat (Friday night) dinner.  This course will culminate with a Shabbat Dinner at Congregation Kol Shalom scheduled for Friday, March 4, 2011.  We are also offering this course in conjunction with a similar concurrent program of study at DRRS (our religious school).  Therefore, while everyone is invited to attend this course, it will be especially useful and educational for parents of our religious school students to study a portion of your children’s curriculum on an adult level.  Here is a list of scheduled class sessions, all of which are scheduled for Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM:  October 14, 21, 28; November 11, 18; December 9, 16; January 20, 27; February 17, 24.  There will be cost of $30 to cover two texts we will be using.  Please RSVP no later than Monday, October 11 if you plan to participate. 

Save the Date:  Renowned comedian Bob Alper will present a 90-minute comedy show at our very own synagogue on Sunday, November 21, at 4:00 PM.  (Please note the change in time.) Flyers are available in the lobby for more information.

If you want to make a contribution to the Oneg-Kiddush fund in honor of a birthday, anniversary, yahrtzeit, or any other special occasion, please complete the request form and return it, along with a check payable to Kol Shalom Sisterhood, to the synagogue office.
